Honda & Acura Recall More Than 250,000 Vehicles

According to USA Today, Honda announced on June 18, 2025, a safety recall affecting 259,033 vehicles across the U.S. The reason is a critical brake pedal part may not have been properly installed. This defect could cause the brake pedal to move or fail during use, increasing the risk of an accident.

The recall affects several models, including:

  • 2023-2025 Honda Pilot
  • 2021-2025 Acura TLX
  • 2023-2025 Acura MDX

Dealers will inspect the brake pedal and fix it for free if needed. Honda will begin sending notices to affected owners starting July 28, 2025.

Lemon Law Steps to Take After a Vehicle Recall

While recalls address known defects, they don’t automatically resolve every issue. For affected owners here’s how the Golden State Lemon Lawyers advise navigating next steps:

1. Check Your Vehicle’s Status

Visit the NHTSA website (link provided below) or contact your dealer to confirm if your VIN is included.

https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=25V391000

2. Inspection

Promptly schedule an inspection. Even one unaddressed defect that persists after repair attempts might qualify your vehicle as a “lemon”

3. Document Everything

Keep meticulous records:

  • Date and nature of the recall
  • Dealer visits and service logs
  • Communication with Honda

These details are critical under the California Song-Beverly Lemon Law, which protects owners if a vehicle exhibits a substantial defect that isn’t fixed after a reasonable number of attempts.

4. Know Your Rights

If the brake issue remains after multiple repair attempts, or causes you to lose time, incur towing or rental costs, you may be entitled to:

  • A full refund (buyback)
  • A replacement vehicle
  • Attorney fees covered by Honda

What You Should Do Now

  1. Confirm your vehicle is included in the recall
  2. Schedule the free inspection/repair at your nearest dealership
  3. Track repair visits
  4. Prepare a lemon law claim if:
    1. The defect persists after 2-4 repair attempts, or
    2. Your vehicle is out of service for 30+ days
